Smile for the Camera

That Google satellite deal is already bringing home the images. Launched on September 6, the satellite put up by GeoEye began image capture yesterday.
Since launch, the process of calibration has been going on and the first released image was taken of Kurtztown University in Pennsylvania.
There’s no particular reason for imaging that school, it’s just where the satellite happened to be when they decided to ‘open fire’.
And I must say, it’s a great image, very vibrant. Too bad we won’t get to see the best it can do due to government regulations which restrict the resolution. Nevertheless, it will be a significant improvement over what we see now in Google Earth and Google Maps.
