Adobe Online

Posted on June 5, 2008

Adobe has just joined the online gang. Headed by Google Docs and including companies such as Zoho, the online apps game is heating up. Seems more and more companies are wanting to put office production software online. As broadband access increases, the use of such applications becomes more reasonable and with more choices out there, more users become aware of their availability. We’ve talked about Zoho and its package that offers even more than Google Docs, but now there’s Adobe.

I guess it was only time until Adobe came around. After all, since their purchase of Macromedia a few years ago with its flagship product, Flash, they have gradually been finding ways to implement it into their product offerings.

No surprise, then, that the online apps product should be flash-based. It includes Buzzword (a word processor), ConnectNow (online meeting tool), PDF creation, and file sharing. Seems they have targeted the top uses for online products and avoided trying to be a do-all product. No Excel or Powerpoint look alikes here.

Give it a try. You may be pleasantly surprised at the implementation.
