Shut ‘Yer Trap

This is almost funny….but not quite.

Some of the Microsoft Business Partners are asking Microsoft public figures to cool it on the bashing of Vista! What a turn of events! I have recently written about the mixed signals coming out of Redmond, especially from Ballmer. And not just him, some others as well, have made public statements that are something akin to an insider’s confession that the folks at home realize their baby isn’t well. The MBPs are upset because all of this talk is going straight to their bottom line. They were missing enough sales due to public perception and now Microsoft is helping make it even worse. So they are sending the message to the home office, shut ‘yer trap!

Microsoft has been doing everything possible to quiet the naysayers on Vista, and now they’ll have to work on themselves. The publicity has been pretty bad, given the petition to keep XP a bit longer, and the stories coming out of corporate environments where roll outs have met with mixed success, causing a number of large Microsoft customers to decide to just wait it out a while longer.

Personally, we are still rejecting any wide-scale adoption, causing our users to say ‘how come there’s no Vista on my new computer? The logo sticker says Vista but mine has XP.’ We have an Enterprise license so all the new PCs that come with Vista get a new XP image blown on them. I guess we ought to peel the sticker to hold down confusion!

Good luck, Microsoft! If the Yahoo merger goes through and duds out, and they keep messing up their OS roll outs, I could see the adoption of a new company name — Microhoo ??
