Hardy Heron

Interesting coincidence that Ubuntu’s newest release of its Linux distro, this one called Hardy Heron, was released today. Haven’t tried it on yet, but every release of this OS seems to make great strides toward being market competitive with Microsoft. Leave Vista in the mix and they are really competitive — from a technical and functioning capacity, since the Vista saga continues to degrade.

Steve ‘Bull’ Ballmer continues to talk and lately he’s been sounding like XP might not go away so soon. A few days ago he accurately described Vista as ‘a work in progress’, obviously admitting its failures. Now today, in Europe, he seemed to say that Microsoft might be open to leaving XP in the market mix when he commented “if customer feedback varies we can always wake up smarter.” I think 160,000 names on a petition to save XP could be construed as customer feedback. A company spokesperson stateside, who had no transcript of Bull’s comments, said nothing had changed and they were sticking to their plans to can XP in June.

Looks like the only names Microsoft is interested in hearing from are those called stockholders who are crying, ‘Come on , ram it down their throat. It’s a monopoly, they gotta buy it!’ ….Hardy Heron, anyone??
