PicLens

Posted on March 25, 2008

Here is a great tool for image viewing. It is an add on that is available for IE, Firefox, and Safari which means it works in Windows and Mac.

PicLens instantly transforms your browser into a full-screen 3D experience for viewing images across the web. The interactive “3D Wall” and built-in search function lets you drag, click, and zoom your way around a wall of pictures for an extraordinary viewing experience.

PicLens currently works on the following sites and with many other media rss enabled sites:

Flickr, Smugmug, DeviantArt, Photobucket, Picasa, FotoTime, Fotki, Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Hi5, and Friendster as well as image search on Google, Yahoo, Ask, Live, and AOL.

Here’s how to use PicLens

  • Visit one of the enabled sites listed above, and then hover over any image. A special icon will then appear on top of that image.
  • Click the icon, and your browser will automatically become a full-screen 3D wall of images.
  • Scroll by dragging the scroll bar or dragging your mouse across the screen. You can also zoom by clicking an image or using the scroll wheel on your mouse, if you have one.
  • Go full-screen by double clicking the image or by clicking the toggle button on the bottom left corner of the PicLens window.
  • Jump to the corresponding webpage of the image by clicking the small arrow button next to the logo at the top left corner of the PicLens window.

PicLens is available here. We’re sure you’ll like it….a lot.
