Asta La Vista?

Should it be? There’s so much flak and bad publicity and it seems to just get worse with time — should Microsoft just can Vista and move on?
Don’t think they can do it? They did before. If you’ve been around very long with the computer thing, you’ll remember Windows Millenium. If I recall, it was some of the first rumblings I heard of people moving to Linux or at least seriously considering doing so.
Everyone was so put out with the poor compatibility and performance of Me, that Bill was left with little choice but to drop it. I remember myself that it came on a new HP I bought for my wife and in no time at all after the purchase, it was one blue screen after another. I didn’t move to Linux then, I just went to Windows 98. And that was OK.
They made the right move then by admitting their problem and going on to release Windows 2000 which was as solid as Me was weak. But what they did right first was to go back and put out Windows 98 SE (Second Edition). That’s exactly the approach I think they should take now. Add some of the nice Vista features to XP and call it XP SE. Forget Vista and keep working on Windows 7 or whatever they are calling the next OS at this stage.
I know it’s only been a couple of days since my post on the SP1 update. Actually, it had been installed several days prior to that post and after messing around with Vista for several days after SP1, I just don’t think it will do enough to calm the crowd.
Seems to me like Microsoft is more wrapped up right now with XBOX and Yahoo than they are the real core products.
Trust me Bill, all eyes are NOT on the Yahoo merger. Most of us could care less about that (unless it costs us money).
