Google Loses Employees
Posted on March 7, 2008
Nearly a third of the first 500 employees at Google have already left the firm.
Seems like when you get rich after an IPO and have had a couple of years of dynamite stock growth, it takes a little of the edge off. Not that Google isn’t still a great place to work, but after you leave the excitement of the startup and the euphoria of the accomplishments, time gradually introduces the new corporate reality and things just aren’t the same anymore.
So where do these people go? Well, a large number seek to do it all over again. So they become a part of, would you believe, yet another start-up. With money in the bank, they are free to do what really piques their interest and even help with the front money to get things going. The excitement is back…..unless success rears its head again. And then it’s probably ‘rinse and repeat’ as they say.
